Shrike Marine’s turntable positions an antenna when making extremely accurate measurements.

 

It incorporates a Harmonic Drive zero backlash actuator (part number CHA-C) with Elmo motion controller (part number G-BAS6/230FETO1).

The performance from the actuator and servo drive is better than 0.5deg accuracy and an absolute encoder ensures that the position of the turntable is always known and does not require a calibration process to start.

Cables pass through the hollow core of the actuator and the pressure plate is connected directly to the actuator. The controller, interface card, fans, EMI filter and cable management mechanism are all be built into the circular shaft.

 

Hard stops in the form of limit switches prevent the servo drive from rotating more than 185deg in either direction and breaking the cables.
